Nonlinear wave propagation in plasmas propagation

Wave propagation in plasmas is well understood in the linear approximation, both from the theoretical and experimental point of view, but the nonlinear processes affecting wave propagation are less well known. Recent progress in this field is outlined including a comparison of experimental results with theoretical predictions of wave-wave coupling and decay, particle trapping by a large-amplitude wave, and the formation of solitons and shock waves.
