Organizational Memory: Knowledge Acquisition, Integration, and Retrieval Issues

The demand on Knowledge Management in the management and business sciences has lead to a growing community of IT people who have adopted the idea of building organizational memories or organizational memory information systems (OMIS). However, the range of ideas associated with these terms is enormous, and the community is far from being homogeneous or aligned to a common goal or technological approach. In this paper, we try to contribute to a coherent view on organizational memory. We sketch some important technical requirements, describe some work contributing to these goals and try to envision some beneficial future work.
