Microanatomía de la cavidad bucofaríngea de la larva de tres bufónidos de la Argentina, con comentarios acerca del aparato bucal y del contenido intestinal

Scanning electro.n and stereoscopic microscopy observations of the oral cavity of Bufo paracnemis, Bufo arenarum and Melanophryniscus stelzneri showed common features among these species: the bucea! floor arena have simple and tall papillae on each lateral border, the tangue anlage has 4 lingual papillae. The bucea! roof arena has 3 4 marginal papillae on each side and obligue choanes. In Bufo paracnemis the labial teeth paddle has 10-12 denticles of equivalent height, and presents well developed jaw sheaths with teeth with one cuspid. Based on intestinal contents (pieces of vegetables and soil minerals) these tadpoles could have a benthic trofic tendence. Chlorophycea and Bacillariophyceae frustules were also found.
