Branching waveguide coupler in a GaAs/GaAlAs injection laser

A branching waveguide coupler is fabricated by preferential liquid‐phase epitaxial growth. This structure provides optical coupling of the laser light into a passive waveguide and provides single longitudinal mode operation for the laser.
