Optimizing Criteria in the Large Signal Design of GaAs FET Low FM Noise Microwave Oscillators

DESIGN PHILOSOPHY Classlcal theories of negative resistance one-port oscillators (1-2) demonstrate that their performance is a function of the amplitude and frequency dependence of the active network impedance Z and of the frequency dependence of the load impedance ZL presenteR to it. Using such theories, classical oscillation conditlons (ZD + ZL = 0 for large signal operation), and an analytical expression of the mean square frequency fluctuation can be derived.
