Generation of Connection Matrices for Digital Simulation of Converter Circuits Using the Tensor Approach

The tensor approach to simulating converter circuits with time-varying topology depends on the generation of connection matrices which relate the independent variables of the reduced networks resulting from the opening of some switches, to the independent variables of the complete network in which all switches are closed. Thus far, specific procedures for generating the connection matrices for three phase bridge circuits have been developed, but these procedures are not readily extendible to other circuit configurations. This paper describes a general method that has been developed to automatically generate such connection matrices for any drive circuit. Examples on three common ac drive circuits are given to illustrate the method.
