Power Tracking Control for Doubly-fed Wind Power Generator

A H∞ controller of power tracking was investigated for doubly-fed wind power generator to guarantee the active and reactive power to track the desired power curves in this paper. The desired power curves were given based on the three operation modes of the motor power associated with wind speed, maximum allowable rotor speed and rated power,in which the wind power was extracted maximally and meanwhile the system was maintained to operate safely. Both the theory of H∞ control and simulation illustration show that the proposed controller can render the resulting closed-loop system to have better tracking performance for the given desired power so as to achieve the design objective of maximal extraction of wind power and safe operation.
