A tapered CPW structure half cut disc UWB antenna for USB applications

Miniaturist the full disc monopole by just halving will lead to mismatch in the UWB bandwidth. After optimized the antenna with beveled ground and tapered CPW structure, a new tapered CPW-fed half disc antenna is proposed. The impedance bandwidth of proposed antenna ranges from 2.42 to 13.62 GHz in measurement, which covers the entire UWB band. Furthermore, the dimension is as small as 11 mm×29.3 mm. As a result, it can be easily integrated into the wireless USB equipments. The antenna is successfully simulated, designed and measured showing extremely broadband matched impedance, stable gain and omni-directional radiation patterns.
