Dedicated silicon solutions for fuzzy logic systems

Giving the fuzzy logic system designer the flexibility to engineer a customised silicon solution optimised to meet the demands of this application is at the heart of what is on offer from the collaboration of VLSI Technology and Togai InfraLogic. The paper will describe the functionality of the fuzzy computational accelerator (FCA) which is available as a core for embedding into an ASIC. For solutions where the throughput is not so demanding then fuzzy logic algorithms can be software targeted onto the general purpose 32-bit ARM6 RISC processor. This processor is available as both a standard device and as a macro-core. The small silicon die size of the ARM6 creates an ideal platform to design a custom fuzzy ASIC solution to meet the designated performance/cost goals.
