Atrial Tachycardia with Atrioventricular Block Due to Digitalis Poisoning

calcium may stop P.A.T.B. This can be achieved experimentally by sodium ethylenediamine tetra-acetic acid, which is a chelating agent with the property of binding calcium in vivo (Popovici et al., 1950). Treatment of digitalis toxicity by this means has been employed by Gubner and Kallmann (1957). In our experience, however, stopping the digitalis preparation and diuretics, supplementing potassium, and preventing further potassium loss have always proved successful.
