Physics parameters and design study for the Beijing spallation neutron source

The Beijing Spallation Neutron Source (BSNS) will be the next large science facility in China. Based on an 80 MeV linac and a 1.6 GeV rapid cycling synchrotron, the BSNS has a goal to obtain a proton beam power of 100 kW with a repetition rate of 25 Hz in the first phase. An introduction to the conceptual design of the BSNS is given, and the main parameters and key technical features are summarized. The R&D plan is discussed.
