Vibration analysis of folded plates

Abstract The finite element - transfer matrix method is used to study the natural frequencies of folded plate structures. Cantilever folded plate or supported folded plate structures are divided into a series of parallel strips, and each strip is further divided into a sequence of elements. One-fold folded plates and two-fold folded plates with various crank angles, and many-fold cylindrical shell panels with non-uniform and non-circular cross-section are considered. The numerical results are compared with some existing data, and fairly good agreement is achieved.
