Sarcomata the New York Hospital.

The classification of nonepithelial malignant tumors and their evaluation from the point of view of prognosis and therapy are both difficult and important. The former is chiefly the task of the pathologist, while the latter concerns both pathologists and surgeons and physicians. This study deals with a group of such tumors derived from patients studied at the New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center during the 22-Year period between 1932 and 1954. From the mass of lesions classified as sarcomas, those which were osteolytic and those which arose in the lymphoid apparatus and in the female genital tract have been excluded as being special groups more amenable to study in separate categories. There remained 173 nonepithelial tumors whose source of origin was either in the soft and connective tissues of the body or in the viscera. It is upon this group that this report is based.
