An approach for calibration and validation of the social force pedestrian model

It's necessary to calibrate and validate the social force pedestrian model by the data of pedestrian flow in a specific traffic environment before using the model to mimic the crowd dynamics factually. In this paper we present a regression approach based on the least square method and real pedestrian track in a Beijing MTR for calibrating the social force pedestrian model, and a macro level method for the model validation based on Netlogo multi-agent simulation platform. The outcome shows that the model which was calibrated in this paper can reproduce the characteristics of pedestrian flow in the MTR, and is more compatible compared with other social force models which were calibrated in the related researches for the MTR scenario.
