Thermal analysis of the HTS magnet for simulated dynamic experiment of electric power systems in over-current state

We perform thermal analysis in order to understand the thermal behavior of the HTS magnet and improve the thermal stability of the HTS magnet for simulated dynamic experiment of electric power systems. In this paper, the thermal analysis and recovery characteristics in over-current state are analyzed by using the model based on the heat conduction equation and solved using the finite element methods. The magnet was cooled by a cryocooler through a cooling plate. This study focused on the temperature profile in the magnet and the heat transfer between the magnet and the cooling plate. Based on the results, the issues related to thermal stability of the HTS magnet are discussed.
