Experimental evaluation of 1-tap time domain beamforming based on 75 GHz indoor CSI

In the fifth generation mobile communications era, small cell systems are offloading more of the mobile traffic. We are studying a wireless entrance system that offers wireless backhaul through the use of massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technology and millimeter wave links. We previously proposed 1-tap time domain beamforming (TDBF) to simplify weight derivation for systems in which the line-of-sight (LOS) channel environment is dominant. This paper conducts experiments to examine the fundamental characteristics of the 1-tap TDBF using channel state information (CSI) obtained through indoor channel measurements at 75 GHz band as well as verifying that the environment matches expectations.
