Metal mass balance studies within a small highway dominated catchment

Abstract The levels of Pb, Cu, Cd and Zn in airborne suspended particulates, surface dust and stormwater runoff and their aerial deposition rates are reported for a small highway-dominated catchment. The mass of metal deposited greatly exceeds the mass removed by washoff for all metals. The relative importance of resuspension processes and removal by washoff and road cleaning processes are considered.
