Mechanism of Craik-O'Brien effect

Abstract Experimental study has found that, if left-eye image receives the sum of the 3rd and the 7th harmonics of MF (Missing Fundamental) wave pattern while the right-eye image the 5th and the 9th and then both of these are confused, the brightness distribution in the form of square wave is observed. Generation mechanism of Craik-O'Brien effect can be estimated to exist in the central nervous system in which both eye components are confused, because it is not possible for just one of the single-eye-images to observe square wave-formed brightness distribution.
