Telehealth, an application of telemedicine connecting patients with health care providers, has been predicted to have a major impact on the home health care market by the end of this century. Many questions still remain unanswered in terms of patient/provider acceptance, integration with physical visits, and reimbursement issues. This article will examine the current status of telehealth as well as implications for the future.
