Serum Anti-Mullerian Hormone, Serum Follicle Stimulating Hormone and Serum Estradiol in the Prediction of Ovarian Reserve: A Comparative Study

Objective: Our study was undertaken to find if any correlation exists between levels of Anti-Mullerian (AMH), follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and estradiol (E2), with the ovarian reserve. Methods: A Randomized, prospective study was conducted at Infertility Clinic,Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Hospital,Jaipur on 105 patients aged 25-40 years undergoing in-vitro fertilization (IVF)/ intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) cycle from from May-Dec2010. Serum levels of hormones were determined at day 3 and ovarian follicle response was assessed on day of administration of hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin). The results were analyzed using proportions, standard deviation and chi-square test. Results: Results revealed that Serum AMH was significantly correlated (r 0.302, p 0.1) and E2 (r 0.999, p>0.1) were not found to have any such association with ovarian reserve in the study.
