Psychrometrics and Kernel Moisture Content as Related to Peanut Storage

ABSTRACT PSYCHROMETRIC conditions and peanut moisture relationships are used to identify ideal, safe, desirable and undesirable environments for maintaining the quality of farmers' stock peanuts in commercial warehouses. The effects on storage environment of out-side conditions, initial peanut temperature and moisture, foreign material, insect control procedures, condensation, leaks (moisture from outside source enter-ing the warehouse), aeration, and ventilation are ex-amined. The importance of these factors varies during different phases of the storage period.
