Comparison of two dissimilar unit reliability models with three types of repair facilities

Abstract This paper investigates the stochastic behaviour of three models for two dissimilar unit cold standby repairable systems. These models are different in the sense that different types of repair man are employed. In model I, the repair man is always with the system. In model 2, the repair man comes immediately on failure of a unit, but in model 3, he takes some random time in reaching the system (i.e. arrival time). The failure times of the units, the repair times of the units and the arrival times for the repair man are assumed to have different arbitrary distributions. Explicit expressions for the mean time to system failure, the availability analysis and cost analysis are obtained in each model. Comparisons between these models are done.
