MUMPS EPIDIDYMITIS WITHOUT ORCHITIS.

ORCHITIS occurs in about 18 per cent of patients with mumps — rarely before puberty.1 Epididymitis without orchitis in mumps has not been described, to our knowledge. Case Report P.S. (P.B.B.H. 3–70–33), a 17-year-old Negro, was hospitalized after 4 days of severe pain in the left scrotum and fever. Ten days before admission he had a mild upper-respiratory-tract infection. Eight days later he noted urinary urgency and frequency. He denied recent sexual contact. His mother had had a mumps infection 1 month earlier. Physical examination showed a well developed, well nourished boy in mild distress, with a temperature of 105°F. . . .
