Parallel Computation of 3-D Scattering Problems Based on Domain Decomposition Method

In Domain Decomposition Method (DDM), the original domain is divided into several sub domains and the solution is achieved by an iterative procedure. Much memory and computing time will be saved when the DDM is used. In addition, the DDM is very suitable for parallel computation. In this paper, several PCs constitute a parallel system by using the PVM (Parallel Virtual Machine) and the DDM is used to analyze the 3 D electromagnetic scattering problem on this parallel system. The scattering characteristic of the conductive and dielectric pillars is computed in this paper and the results show that the computational efficiency will be improved by parallel computation.
