Abstract Complexes of rare earth nitrates with Schiff bases derived from o-vanillin (2-hydroxy-3-methoxy-benzaldehyde) and 2-naphthylamine have been prepared and characterized. The complexes have been given the general formula [LnL2 (NO3)] (NO3)2 (where Ln = La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, Lu; L = Schiff base) on the basis of elemental analyses, molar conductance, infrared spectra, ultraviolet spectra and thermal analyses.
