Improved Sampling Control and Data Gathering for Improved Mineral Inventories and Production Control

Current data acquisition procedures may not be appropriate to provide adequate and efficient estimation of deposits and ore reserves. Several quality control procedures that are both simple and cheap to implement lead to significant improvements in data quality. First, we examine the importance of improved sample acquisition, sample handling and assaying procedures. The second part of this paper examines deposit sampling and geological strategies. Attention to these quality control steps can help increase the validity of geostatistical estimates and the efficiency of mine production quality control.
