Device and method of managing memory allocation for mobile-phone platform

An apparatus and a method for managing a platform memory of a terminal are provided to allocate a memory to a system platform first in a terminal which operates a plurality of platforms so as to operate the terminal stably. An apparatus for managing a platform memory of a terminal includes a modem processor(20), a memory allocation unit(30) and a heap memory(70). The modem processor loads a platform selected according to a control command to confirm a required heap memory size and moves a limit pointer to secure a memory region having a size required by a system platform first. The memory allocation unit boots the platform selected under the control of the modem processor, allocates a heap memory having a required size, additionally secures and allocates a heap memory required by the system platform first and moves the limit pointer to discriminate a system heap region and an application heap region from each other. The heap memory allocates a memory region designated by the limit pointer to the system platform under the control of the memory allocation unit and allocates the remaining memory region to an application platform.
