The invention provides a method for producing high-carbon steel by applying a high-carbon-catch single-slag method through a 50t top blast converter. The method which is carried out according to the technological steps of charging, open blowing, slagging, inverted converter deslagging, temperature measurement sampling, and steel tapping is characterized in that lime, ore and iron oxide balls are used as slagging agents and are added in batch after the open blowing; and the alkalinity of slag in early-stage blowing is controlled at 1.5-2.0, and the alkalinity of the slag in middle-stage and late-stage blowing is controlled at 3.0-3.3. A constant-pressure variable-lance-position top blast oxygen supply system is adopted in the blowing process; and the carbon content and the phosphorous content at the blowing end point of the converter are 0.55-0.65% and below 0.010% respectively. The method has the advantages of fast slag formation, good slugging effect, effective phosphorous removal, production cost reduction and production period shortening.
