A novel Routing and service migration scheme for communication among heterogeneous devices in pervasive environment

In pervasive environment various devices with varying medium of access, mobility and connectivity have different types of services available among themselves. We are in need of a computing scheme which can utilize this limited amount of resources in the network in an efficient way. In this paper, we have considered various aspects of routing to find out the most efficient devices for service provisioning in the environment and the chances of failure during the communication among the devices like link breakage, accidental disabling etc. Our paper discusses the migration of services to other available devices for continuing the service provisioning after the failure is occurred. We present a special Routing scheme called SFUSP (Self Eliminating Fault Tolerance Based Uninterrupted Reliable Service Switching Mobile Protocol) and is designed for discovering proper services in pervasive environment based on the context in request using Pervasive Discovery Protocol (PDP). This is a proactive routing scheme with additional functionalities such as clustering and comparison technique to find out a reliable path that consists of efficient nodes with services. Comparison on fault success and migration time is done with other routing protocols such as AODV, DSR and OLSR under different MAC layers in combined, such as IEEE 802.11, 802.15 and 802.16 under Random, Brownian and Manhattan Mobility models using Media Independent Handoff protocol.
