Dynamical Entropy in Dynamical Systems

The concept of a dynamical entropy h T in the sense of Kolmogorov and Sinai (KS-entropy) is introduced (1) and discussed with respect to some of its most significant implications. These comprise (2) its role in intrinsically unstable processes like K-flows or deterministic chaos, (3) the distinction of ontic states (phase points) and epistemic states (phase volumes), (4) the issue of information flow in nonlinear dynamical systems, (5) the status of the KS-entropy in a non-commutative algebra of operators, and (6) its relevance for recent developments concerning the issue of temporal nonlocality. Finally (7), a few possible perspectives, particularly in view of interdisciplinary relationships, are briefly indicated.
