On Plant Required Water Information Detecting for Water Saving Irrigation

According to the principle that difference juice density of plant is corresponding to difference level of moisture inside plant,a novel method is proposed using plant body resistance changes as information to judge the degree of water needed by plant.Testing result on corn plant shows that the physiological resistance of plant reflects well the level of lacked water in plant body with the conclusion that physiological resistance less than 40 kΩ indicates that corn need to be watered and the value between 40 kΩ and 50 kΩ implies the plant moisture is adequate.Two types of device were developed to detect the plant physiological resistance for the required water information of plant,one is portable style based on single chip microcomputer and another is pocket style with simple structure.Long term massive repeated experiments show that the studied scheme is practicable.The corresponding detect devices for the plant required water information can be used to quickly and accurately detect the degree of plant water lack so providing a new effective examination method for water saving irrigation in dry farmland area.
