Deformation monitoring technique based on smart antenna for ultra-high tower of power transmission line

A micro-deformation monitoring system is proposed for the ultra-high towers of power transmission line,which is based on the smart antenna and spread spectrum technique. Multiple radio beacons are installed on the ultra-high tower and their direction and distance are monitored by the antenna array to detect the deformation of monitored tower. A two-dimensional multiple signal classification algorithm based on planar array is proposed and analyzed. Simulative results show that the beacon positions are calculated accurately and the deformation of ultra-high tower is monitored with the resolution of millimeter in real time.
