Coupling analysis of stinger-lay barge-pipeline of S-lay installation in deep water

In order to study the coupling among stinger-lay barge-pipeline of S-lay methods,the mechanism of contact between the pipeline and roller was used to simulate a coupling test.A method utilizing a generalized elastic surface contact algorithm was used to simulate the roller on the stinger;the Morison rod of over-bending region was connected by hinged;PID control theory was also used to simulate dynamic position of the ship.The dynamic response of the lay barge and the contribute force from the pipe can be achieved by calculation.The empirical formula of the over-bending stress of S-lay method was used to validate the results.The results show that low frequency wave dominates the response of the lay barge,and the coupling force should not be ignored.The coupling between the stinger and the pipe was recommended for consideration when calculating the working sea state of the lay barge.
