Response of an axially loaded Timoshenko beam to random loads

The paper presents theoretical expressions for the displacement response of an axially loaded Timoshenko beam subjected to concentrated or distributed random loads having stationary and ergodic properties. The method is illustrated by its application to investigate the effects of axial force on the random response of a simply supported beam acted upon by an ideal white noise. The theory is fairly general and can be used for other types of random load and different end conditions of the beam.
