With the ever-increasing work-load in X-ray departments, there would seem to be three main areas which could usefully bear examination with a view to increasing both efficiency within the department and acceptance outside of the importance of radiology in diagnosis—orthopaedics, casualty and community care. By agreement with our orthopaedic colleagues, for example, we have for the past three years not reported on fracture follow-up films unless an opinion is specifically requested.
