PV farm placement and sizing using GA for area development plan of distribution network

Electricity network with the concept of Distributed Generation (DG) is growing rapidly. The rapid development is caused by factors such as environmental issues, the restructuring of the electricity market, and the development of small-scale power plant technology. This paper proposes a method of determining the location and capacity of Distributed Generation Photovoltaic (PV-DG) in PV farm system using Genetic Algorithms (GA). And also to calculate power generation and active/reactive power losses. The method proposed is intended to improve voltage stability and power losses in the distribution network. The proposed method is tested on a standard distribution system IEEE 30 bus with three units of DG. Optimization results showed 12.81% reduction in power losses and bus voltage between 1.05 to 0.96 pu.
