Process management system for concurrent product development is one of the key technologies and its main functional modules include product development process modeling, analysis, optimization, improvement, reengineering, execution, monitoring etc. The module of process analysis is one of the key parts of the process management system. A review for product development process modeling and analysis including design structure matrix (DSM) is described. Based on the existing DSM-based multi-view process modeling, the mapping process between multi-level process modeling and DSM is analyzed. The DSM based method of process analysis for concurrent product development is presented. The algorithms of activity based DSM partition, design iteration identification, DSM band identification, DSM tearing, DSM clustering etc. are clarified. The DSM based process modeling system is developed to realize DSM based process analysis and optimization for concurrent product development and a case is given.
