Abstract : New methods of treatment of timber and new types of wood based boards with improved qualities are to-day creating a new idea of the use of timber as a structural material. Timber can be protected by various impregnations from rot fungi and insects. Flammability can be reduced considerably by the impregnation of salts. (Author)
