Distributed Semantic Service Discovery for MANET

Service discovery is an integral part in establishing an independent and self-organizing mobile ad-hoc network(MANET). In this paper a new distributed semantic service discovery scheme is proposed for MANET consisting of various mobile terminals. The proposed scheme based on the proactive routing protocol, Destination-Sequenced Distance Vector (DSDV), maintains the information on the network in the routing table for semantic service discovery depending on the desired service type. The proposed scheme is designed on top of TCP/IP stack of a mobile node. Its performance is evaluated by computer simulation, which reveals that the delay in service discovery is significantly reduced compared to the existing scheme.
