On Pragmatic Analysis of English Modal Verb in Language Teaching

Language teaching should aim at developing the students' pragmatic competence.So it is very important for the teachers to foster the linguistic and communicative competence,the awareness and competence of intercultural communication of the students in class.Teaching and learning English modal verb is one of the most complicated and difficult parts in language teaching.This paper makes a tentative study of the necessity of applying pragmatic analysis in English teaching by the survey on the understanding and application of English modal verb among the English majors.
