Numerical solution of two-fluid flows using finite element method

A numerical method for computing the motion of incompressible, immiscible viscous two-fluid flows with moving interface is presented. Assuming the Boussinesq approximation to the Navier-Stokes equation, we use the equations of one-fluid model. The interface between the two fluids is considered as the zero-iso-line of the pseudo-density function, which is governed by the transport equation. Our method is based on the Eulerian approach with the mixed finite element method with the velocity-explicit/pressure-implicit scheme and the modified Lax-Wendroff finite element scheme. Numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of our method.
