A LOGIT MODEL OF PUBLIC TRANSPORT ROUTE CHOICE

Research considering travelers' behavior in selecting from among available public transport routes, is described in this paper. The paper focuses on the estimation of a logit model of this public transport route choice behavior using disaggregate revealed preference observations of the behavior of individuals traveling to work at locations in the central business district of Edmonton, Canada. The model includes explicit representation of the influence of various factors on travelers' selection of a route. It provides insights into the nature of public transport route choice behavior that contributes to the design of public transport services in Edmonton.
