Real-time diagnostic and performance monitoring in a DAQ environment

This paper describes hardware architectures and software solutions for real-time performance monitoring in a data acquisition system. A specific hardware design allows a software package to fully characterise the timing of the data taking process with negligible overhead. The measured performances in a field application are presented.
