Enhancement of region-of-interest coded images by using adaptive regularization

We propose a new algorithm that post-processes wavelet-based ROI coded images by using adaptive iterative regularization. The proposed algorithm can efficiently reduce the ringing artifacts as well as restore the details of the image. The algorithm can be used in still image compression standards, videophone, video conferencing, and other visual communication systems.
