Optical binary image algebra processor (OBIAP)

Abstract A novel optical implementation of several fundamental operations of morphological processing including complement, union, dilation and erosion has been developed. Also an optical binary image algebra processor (OBIAP) with a multi-beam splitter (MBS), a liquid crystal television (LCTV), 2-D detector array and a microprocessor is established. It is characterized by its simple structure, capability of feedback and real-time imaging.
