Electromagnetic, thermal and mechanical design of a linear PM valve actuator laboratory model

This paper presents a finite element method (FEM) Analysis of an interior permanent magnet linear valve actuator (IPM-LVA) from three points of view: electromagnetic, thermal, mechanic. Due to the strong dependencies between the three simulations a coupled analysis is recommended. A combination of several methods leads us to an overall solution. Preliminary experiments validate satisfactorily key electromagnetic performance.
