Design and Implement of Image Recognition System for EAN-13 Code

Barcode identification based on image processing has broad application prospects in the field of information collection.In order to translate barcode information correctly in a complex context,the characteristics of EAN-13 code and related technology of image processing are researched,and the automatic identification systems are designed.The system is divided into three parts:image preprocessing,image segmentation and image decoding.The algorithms of each part are designed based on EAN-13 code′s characteristics,including edge detection algorithm,filter algorithm and segmentation algorithm.These algorithms can effectively remove the image noise on the barcode identification and it can extract useful image information to identify the EAN_13 code in a complex background barcode image.
