FORMATION OF A SPARSE BUS IMPEDANCE MATRIX AND ITS APPLICATION TO SHORT CIRCUIT STUDY

A new algorithm for short circuit studies, designated as the sparse Z matrix method, has been presented. The procedure is quite superior to any other conventional methods because it provides a method for computing only  those elements of the Z matrix actually needed in short circuit calculations, thereby reducing required computer time a,d storage in the computational process. Also, this method seems to be applicable to system contingency studies and senility analyses for system stability problems.
