Control of Pollutant Emissions by ITS on the Austrian High Level

Depending on the amount of pollutant emission and the current prevailing weather conditions, speed limits are displayed on the information panels of the Traffic Control units (TCU) on the Austrian high level network of ASFINAG (Austrian motorways and expressways finance company), so as to comply with the statutory regulated pollution limit values (IG-L) with the support of model calculations concerning the spreading of pollutant emission. The first pilot applications are build and online. The implementation of these monitoring solutions regarding pollutant emission is scheduled in specific areas of the ASFINAG road network.
