POROUS ASPHALT AND TRAFFIC SAFETY

The behavior of porous asphalt is different from that of dense asphalt concrete. The open structure of porous asphalt reduces traffic noise, drains water from the road surface and reduces the thermal conductivity. These differences can have an effect on road safety. This paper presents a literature review on porous asphalt and safety and furthermore summarizes the primary results from a Danish pilot study using porous asphalt on an urban road.
